Kids in Vegetable Farm

On-the-Farm Field Trips

At City Farm SLO, kids connect with food and where it comes from.

In addition to fruits and vegetables, at City Farm SLO we are growing the next generation of scientists, sustainable farmers, environmentalists, informed citizens, and change-makers. During On-the-Farm Field trips, students deepen their knowledge about science, environment, and health. By meeting and working with farmers on our property, they put this knowledge into immediate, practical use while heightening their appreciation of fresh produce that they participate in growing. On-the-Farm Field Trips are conducted by our skilled farm educators in precise alignment with CA Common Core and California’s Next Generation Science Standards at each grade level.

On-The-Farm Field Trips Include

  • 2 hours of on-farm instruction led by our skilled farm educators, featuring hands on-activities covering concepts in science, environment, and health. Each lesson is aligned with CA Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards at each grade level.

  • Instructional materials for preparatory and follow up lessons

  • Tour of a working farm

  • For up to 30 students and 10 teachers/chaperones per group
