A Garden For All

A universally accessible growing space at City Farm SLO

Students in our programs have diverse needs. Before the Garden for All project, and much of our farm was inaccessible individuals with disabilities. A Garden For All is a fully accessible garden and our first step as part of a larger effort to increase universal accessibility farm-wide.

The Need For Accessibility

Our Therapeutic Horticulture Program serves children and young adults with disabilities. Students in these programs build critical life skills through farm-based activities. The Garden for All increases access with a decomposed granite foundation and pathways, raised beds at varying heights including full wheelchair access, shade structures, a mobile classroom and cooking cart, and sensory gardens.

Growing the Next Generation

At City Farm SLO, we are growing the next generation of scientists, environmentalists, sustainable farmers, and change makers. We believe that all kids, no matter their backgrounds or circumstance, should have an opportunity to be tomorrow's leaders.
